New Yacht Song is a Hot Song

Yacht has evolved over the past few years and keeps on changing with no regrets, and hasn't looked back either. From Y.A.C.H.T. to YACHT to Yacht and half of The Blow, Jona Bechtolt has changed his musical project from experimental laptop noise to catchy, poppy, silly and cute songs with tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Now a duo (Claire L. Evans, Jona's girlfriend, is now a member of the band), they have released their first single from their upcoming album, See Mystery Lights (July 28) titled "Psychic City." The band has not strayed away from 2007's I Believe In You. Your Magic Is Real. From the first few seconds, you can tell this is a Yacht song; beeps and pops fill the background, while what sounds like a guitar being strummed is on a loop. However, in this song Claire L Evans takes control and sings lead. The song is slighty more mature than pervious Yacht songs (it is actually a cover of a field recording, you can read more about it in Yacht's blog and download samples and the instrumental version of "Psychic City") but is still a fun jam that will be stuck in your head for weeks while you get down at any summer party.

See Mystery Lights is out July 28 on DFA Records.
